Light Painting Salons are a wonderful, creative evening of photography and exploration. For a group of up to six participants, Chicago photographers Martha Schrik and Geoff Binns-Calvey will host the evening at Martha's Belmont Avenue studio. For three hours, you and friends put on costume pieces, reveal your inner goddess, find your pose, then step in front of the camera to create one of a kind photographs, either as single portraits or in groups. At the end of the evening, you'll take home one flash drive with forty to fifty original images, created just for you and your group.
It's a great, fun, inventive evening out for birthday celebrations, bachelorette parties, or just for celebrating the creative spirit with friends! Bring your own costumes, makeup, snacks, and beverages. Makeup table and dressing area provided. Prices for an evening start at $200.

What is light painting? Light painting is a fusion of new and antique photographic techniques. Early portrait photography required long exposures, sometimes up to several minutes. Modern cameras are much more sensitive, but we've developed a technique, using long exposures and hand held illumination, that brings back the look of lighting found in early studio work. This lighting is not achievable any other way, and captures the golden tones and glowing skin of artists like Maxfield Parrish and William Bouguereau. Each photograph is unique and unretouched. "I SO enjoyed the photo-shoot Monday evening. You all were lovely to work with and I appreciated the incredibly safe and fun environment you created!"
"I would certainly LOVE to work with you and everyone again. It was super fun as just a girls thing! I may find another friend or two who are interested in modeling, as well as bringing along my sweetheart sometime. And an outside shoot would be really cool!!!"
"Thank you for creating beautiful art that expresses truth and authenticity in the human form, celebrating our natural vulnerable state, to embrace all that we love and loathe about our bodies, and choose to look for the good and find it."
